 Britain’s favourite bird and possibly one of the friendliest.
On the ground it moves around in a series of hops. They tend to defend their territory all year round but in Winter, males and females hold separate territories: breeding starts late March.
The Upper parts of the robin are olive brown with an orangey-red face neck and breast. Young birds have no red breast and are spotted with golden brown.

Commonly found in woods with a lot of undergrowth. Also inhabits hedges and gardens. |

Consists of leaves, moss and dried grass. Often found in a hollow or tree stump. Also makes use of man made objects in garden sheds and barns. |

In Summer eats invertebrates (spiders, beetles and worms) and in Winter, seeds and fruit. |

A short "Tic, tic" .Song often sung as a melody. It is interesting to note that its song is at its strongest at Christmas. |
